Maureen Smith came to Central in 1999 as a seminary intern, fell in love with the congregation, and has been happy to stay on in a part-time role as pastoral associate. She preaches a few times a year, leads worship, teaches a weekly Bible study, makes pastoral calls and visits, and works with the congregational care and membership committees.
She worked for many years at the University of Minnesota as a writer and editor before graduating from United Theological Seminary in 2001 with an M.Div. degree.
Maureen is single, with a wide circle of friends. Besides her work at Central, she teaches English to adult immigrants and takes classes on everything from Brazilian film to astronomy. She enjoys international travel, Minnesota Twins games, movies, and two book groups.
